We have started a blog series which we call “This Is The Law: Elder Law.” For each post or page we will give you the citation of the applicable federal law and Michigan law. In Elder Law we focus on two main areas: Medicare and Medicaid. Both are federal programs.
Medicaid is a federal program administered by the state. Here we will give you: the federal law; the federal interpretation of Medicaid by the Medicaid division of the federal agency Center for Medicare and Medicaid services. In Michigan the program is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services. We will give you the federal law and the state administrative policies found in the Bridges Eligibility Manual (BEM).
So whenever you have a problem with agency delivery of your earned benefits hire an Elder Law Attorney and know you will win since agencies too frequently interpret program rules to their liking.
